Standing up
for change.
We create online workplace educational resources that don’t suck. Yes, you read that right. It’s a thing! We promise.

Why should you care?
With recent changes to the law, organisations now have a positive duty to take a proactive and preventative approach to various issues relating to Australian workplaces. In other words, it’s the law.
But it’s more than that! The cost of doing nothing is a very real and expensive thing. Each year, businesses lose hundreds of thousands of dollars managing issues that might’ve been avoided with a clearer understanding of everyone’s responsibilities in the workplace. Once you add together the cost of legal fees, compensation, reputational damage, increased insurance premiums, loss of employees, impact on productivity and low morale (we could go on), it’s clear there’s inherent value in preventative action.
So training doesn’t just tick a compliance box – it’s also the smartest and most effective way to protect your business from the potential cost of ignorance, either now or in the future. Think of it as risk cover with a side of ESG. Because yes, here’s the other thing – businesses like you have a unique and powerful opportunity in creating lasting cultural change. It doesn’t matter what industry you’re in, we’re all facing the same issues at work – and in our communities. We believe that when it comes to the big issues, education is the number one prevention strategy. Help us help you create an upstanding workforce.

This sounds exactly like the training we’ve been looking for, tell me about the resources.
Our resourcesWhy should you trust us?
Upstanding is the brainchild of solicitor Adair Donaldson and brings the knowledge and skills you need to stay standing.
Adair has the legal expertise, but he’s also a highly sought-after speaker with over 20 years’ experience in the education space, covering topics such as codes of conduct, social media, sexual harassment, domestic and family violence and consent. He has worked with thousands of employees, students, parents, and professional athletes, has advised multiple national sporting bodies, and has appeared before Federal and State Parliamentary Committees. Adair is a member of the Australian Rugby League Commission’s Respectful Relationships Committee and is on the Queensland Government’s Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Council.
Working alongside him is Hannah Kinder, a multi-platform producer who is known for tackling tricky topics and creating content which breaks down big issues in interesting and digestible ways. She’s also worked in business quality assurance, with experience in certifying and managing a range of international standards (ISO). This means she understands exactly what businesses need from a training resource, and the broader part if plays in compliance, training and improvement.
Together, they’re passionate about taking a holistic approach to creating respectful, reputable and responsible workplaces. We want to future-proof your business and foster sustainable cultural change at the same time. It’s a win/win!

We meet you
where you’re at!
Trust us, we know about compulsory learning modules. We know that a lot of the time they’re dull, overly diplomatic and could easily find a second life as a sleep story. We also know that if you want real change and buy-in, you have to leave boring at the door. That’s why we’ve created accessible and engaging content that tells you exactly what you need to know – but without putting you to sleep. We cover topics like codes of conduct, social media, bullying, discrimination and harassment, sexual harassment and domestic and family violence, and believe that they can be taught easily and compellingly.
Not to brag, but
we’re experts!
We know our stuff. Sure, we bring the legal jargon and we make it interesting – but that’s because we know the legal jargon. Upstanding has taken Adair’s 30 years’ experience as a practicing solicitor and business owner, picked out the most relevant parts, and put the rest back. Couple that with Hannah’s work in quality assurance, and you can trust that we understand what you need, because…well, we are you!

Career Killers
A comprehensive handbook for modern workplaces, this resource tackles the big topics we have seen cause problems for both businesses and employees time and time again. In this 60-minute training package, we cover:
- Codes of conduct;
- Social media;
- Bullying, discrimination and harassment;
- Sexual harassment;
- Domestic and family violence.
This training is structured in a way which ticks off your legal obligations, but also educates employees on potential career pitfalls they (often) may not be aware of. We use real-life storytelling and interactive learning tools to make sure everyone is getting value from their 60 minutes of screen time.
Alternatively, we also offer bespoke training resources if that’s more your thing. Contact us today using the form below to discuss options.
FAQs
Here are some common questions about Upstanding and our resources. If you can’t find the answers you’re looking for, just get in touch using the contact form.
-
How often do we need to do the training?
We recommend that the training should be completed by all employees once. After that, we recommend a refresher every few years (keep your eyes peeled!), but we don’t really believe there’s much value in forcing people to re-sit through information they already know.
-
Once we’ve purchased the resource, how long do we have to complete the training?
You have access to the resource for 60 days.
-
Do you provide legal advice?
No. What we do is provide the training so your employees know what is in their work agreements/policies. The work we do is complimentary to your own legal advisors and it provides an efficient way for your to deliver the training.
-
Do we provide a certificate in relation to the training?
Yes.
